airstop system

WHAT IS AIRSTOP?

AirStop is an automatic device designed to eliminate unpleasant odours from kitchen and bathroom drains on board vessels.

The system acts directly on the discharge lines, automatically closing the pipes when the vessel is not in use and restoring normal flow when the electrical power supply is switched back on.

THE PROBLEM

Bacteria develop in grey water tanks and produce unpleasant odours which, in addition to causing discomfort, can also create unhealthy conditions.

Odours spread throughout the vessel through the discharge pipes and are normally prevented by traps, which operate according to the principle of a water seal.

However, the correct operation of these traps depends on the presence of water inside them, which can evaporate during periods when the vessel is not in use, especially during the warmer months.

In addition, safety regulations require the main electrical power supply to be switched off when the crew is not on board, making conventional active systems ineffective.

HOW AIRSTOP WORKS

AirStop operates automatically when the main electrical power supply is switched off: the system detects the absence of power and closes the discharge lines, preventing unpleasant odours from spreading into the interior spaces.

The mechanical closure of the pipes operates independently of the traps, ensuring protection even if the water inside them evaporates.

When the electrical power supply is restored, AirStop automatically reopens the discharge lines, returning the system to normal operation.

The device is equipped with a backup battery that ensures closure even when no electrical power is available.

In addition, in the event of an emergency, the system can be opened or closed manually.
